Pakistan Marks 79th Independence Day With National Zeal And Fervour

Countrywide celebrations honour the Pakistan Movement, national heroes and the journey towards a strong, prosperous and welfare-oriented state

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan is celebrating its 79th Independence Day today with national zeal and fervour, renewing its pledge to uphold the spirit of the Pakistan Movement and build the country as a strong, prosperous and true Islamic welfare state.

The day is being marked with colourful ceremonies, special prayers, cultural programmes and patriotic events across the country, reflecting Pakistan’s rich heritage and the sacrifices made by its founding generation.

Gun Salutes And Flag-Hoisting Ceremonies

The celebrations began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes at provincial headquarters.

Flag-hoisting ceremonies are being held at federal, provincial, divisional and district headquarters, with senior officials and citizens taking part in events marking the country’s independence.

Mosques across Pakistan are also holding special prayers for the country’s peace, solidarity, stability and prosperity.

Pakistan Draped In National Colours

Streets, markets, public buildings and other prominent places have been decorated with national flags, buntings and colourful lights, giving towns and cities a festive appearance.

A wide range of programmes, including seminars, exhibitions, cultural events and other activities, have been organised to commemorate Independence Day and highlight the historic struggle and sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan.

State and private media is broadcasting special programmes focusing on the services and sacrifices of the heroes of the Pakistan Movement.

Change Of Guards At Mazar-e-Quaid

A change-of-guards ceremony was also held at the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi, paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and reaffirming the nation’s commitment to the ideals on which Pakistan was founded.

The 79th Independence Day celebrations are not only a tribute to Pakistan’s past but also a reminder of the responsibility to build a stronger, more secure, prosperous and inclusive country for future generations.
