MUZAFFARABAD: A large rally was held in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday to mark Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, with participants reaffirming solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and calling for the peaceful resolution of the longstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell, the rally was attended by government officials, Hurriyat leaders, lawyers, civil society representatives and a large number of citizens.

The procession began at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat and concluded at the Martyrs’ Memorial, where participants carried placards and banners supporting the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and chanted slogans in support of the Kashmir cause.
Speakers Condemn India’s 2019 Actions
Addressing the gathering, speakers described August 5, 2019, as one of the darkest days in Kashmir’s history, saying India’s decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir violated international law and the relevant UNSC resolutions.
They said the measures could not weaken the resolve of the Kashmiri people, who remained committed to their struggle for self-determination.
Call for International Action
The speakers urged the international community and the United Nations to play a more effective role in securing a just and peaceful settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and ensuring the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
At the conclusion of the rally, participants expressed solidarity with the people of IIOJK on behalf of the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Special prayers were also offered for the martyrs of Kashmir, as well as for peace, justice and the freedom of the Kashmiri people.
