KARACHI: The United Arab Emirates has emerged as the potential venue for this year’s ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026, with the Asian Cricket Council yet to formally announce the tournament’s schedule and location.
According to international media reports, the ACC sent an email to the eight participating nations on July 22, sharing that the venue was “currently being finalised” while also distributing the tournament’s official logo.

The eight competing teams include Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, and the UAE.
Tournament expected to begin late August
According to the report, the continental tournament is anticipated to commence on August 28, with the final likely scheduled for September 13, just three days before the women’s cricket events at the 2026 Asian Games, which will be held in Nagoya, Japan, and continue until September 28.

Participating nations have since been actively seeking clarification from the ACC regarding the final schedule to facilitate their travel and logistical arrangements.

India’s squad announcement withdrawn
In an interesting development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s squad for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 on Sunday but quickly removed it from public view.
The hasty withdrawal is believed to be linked to the fact that the ACC had not formally confirmed the tournament’s hosting arrangements.

Sri Lanka arrive as defending champions
