PTI Leader Booked for ‘Interfering in Official Affairs’

LAHORE: The Ferozewala police in district Sheikhupura have registered a case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core leader Farrukh Habib on the complaint of Adeel Shaukat, a federal police officer.

The first information report (FIR) was lodged against the PTI leader for ‘interfering in official affairs’ and ‘tearing uniform of policemen’. 

Allegations against PTI leader

The FIR stated that the PTI leader tried to interfere in official affairs and cause damage. It is to mention here that Farrukh Habib had tried to stop the police vehicle carrying Fawad Chaudhry to Islamabad after latter’s arrest from Lahore.

The incident took place at the Kala Shah Kaku Toll Plaza near Sheikhupura, where some individuals led by Farrukh Habib allegedly blocked the way and attempted to free the former federal minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry. According to the FIR , the individuals tore the uniforms of the officers and also snatched a wireless set from them during the altercation.

The case was registered under several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 225 (Resistance or obstruction to lawful apprehension of another person), 341(Punishment for wrongful restraint), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), and 359 (Punishment for dacoity).
