QUETTA: Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province has launched the country’s first digital E-Domicile and E-Local Certificate system, marking a major step toward transparent public service delivery and digital governance.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced the initiative, describing it as an important reform aimed at reducing corruption, ending unnecessary delays and improving access to official certification services.

Under the new system, citizens can apply for E-Domicile and E-Local Certificates from anywhere in Pakistan. Applications can be submitted through local Deputy Commissioner offices, NADRA registration centres or the online Pak-ID platform.

Officials said the integrated system will make the process faster, more secure and easier for citizens who previously had to rely on lengthy manual procedures.

The provincial government said the new platform will also help eliminate middlemen and prevent the issuance of fake domiciles. A secure digital database will allow government departments and institutions to instantly verify local credentials.

The reform is expected to particularly benefit students, job seekers and citizens applying for government services that require domicile or local certification.

Chief Minister Bugti said the initiative reflects Balochistan’s commitment to modern governance, transparency and citizen-focused service delivery.

Officials said the project could serve as a model for other provinces seeking to digitise public administration systems.
