ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Test squad has departed for the West Indies to begin preparations for a two-match ICC World Test Championship series later this month.

The national side left Islamabad International Airport and will travel to the Caribbean via Doha and London before reaching Trinidad and Tobago.

Led by captain Babar Azam, Pakistan will play the series at two major West Indian cricket venues: Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba and Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

Before departure, the squad completed an intensive training camp at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Players took part in three days of practice sessions focusing on batting, bowling, fielding and fitness.

The team also played a two-day scenario-based practice match to help the coaching staff assess player form, combinations and readiness for Caribbean conditions.

Pakistan will play a four-day warm-up match from July 18 to 21. The fixture will give the visitors an opportunity to acclimatise, test combinations and gain match practice before the opening Test.

The two-Test series will be played from July 25 to August 10. The first Test will take place at Brian Lara Cricket Academy, while the second will be held at Queen’s Park Oval.

The series is important for both teams as they look to improve their positions in the ongoing World Test Championship standings.
