SOUTHAMPTON: England have replaced India at the top of the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings after completing a dominant 4-0 series victory over the reigning T20 World Cup champions.

The result ended India’s stay as the world’s No.1 T20I side, a position they had held for more than 1,600 days since February 2022.

India dropped to second place following their heavy defeat in England, which came shortly after a 2-0 series loss to Ireland.

Australia retained third place in the latest rankings, while New Zealand, South Africa and Pakistan occupied fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.

England sealed the series in style in the fifth T20I at Southampton, where Harry Brook and Jos Buttler shared a match-winning 233-run partnership for the second wicket.

Brook struck a brilliant century, while Buttler remained unbeaten on 95 after producing the fastest T20I half-century of his international career.

England had made reclaiming the No.1 ranking a major target before the series finale, and achieved it with a commanding performance.

The opening match of the series was washed out at Chester-le-Street, but England dominated the remaining four games.

They handed India their heaviest T20I defeat in Nottingham before chasing 159 in just 13.4 overs in Bristol.

India remain winless since lifting the T20 World Cup in February.
