ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has called for international cooperation to tackle shared challenges of terrorism, organised crime, cybercrime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and money laundering.

Addressing the United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit in New York, Minister Naqvi said these transnational threats affect every country and cannot be addressed in isolation.

Mohsin Naqvi stated that every country is affected by terrorism, organised crime, cybercrime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and money laundering.

He added that no nation is immune to these threats, and no country can address them on its own. In this context, he emphasised that international cooperation is more important today than ever before.

‎‎Naqvi stressed that countries must work in close coordination by fostering mutual trust, sharing intelligence in a timely manner, and supporting one another in addressing transnational security threats. He called for stronger partnerships among law enforcement agencies worldwide to enhance collective efforts against crime.

The interior minister said rapid technological advancements have created new opportunities for criminals, making it imperative for police forces to adopt modern technologies and innovative tools to prevent and combat crime more effectively.

He also underscored the importance of strengthening the professional capacity of police personnel through enhanced training programmes and greater integration of innovation and advanced technologies into law enforcement.

Mohsin Naqvi further said that the summit had brought together experienced leaders from across the world, each possessing valuable knowledge and practical experience.

‎‎”Let us exchange ideas, learn from one another’s successes, and explore new ways of working together. The United Nations provides us with a unique platform to achieve this,” he remarked.

‎‎Mohsin Naqvi also thanked United Nations Police Advisor Faisal Shahkar for providing the opportunity to engage with counterparts and colleagues from around the world.

‎‎Interior Minister said the summit brings participants together with a common purpose—to make their countries safer, protect their people, and strengthen peace and security across the globe.
