RIYADH: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) has expanded its ambulance fleet with the addition of 257 advanced, state-of-the-art vehicles as part of a major initiative to strengthen emergency medical services and improve healthcare for citizens, residents, and pilgrims.
Equipped with the latest medical technologies, the new ambulances serve as mobile advanced care units, allowing emergency response teams to begin critical, life-saving treatment before patients arrive at healthcare facilities, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.
The upgraded fleet features electric stretchers to improve patient handling and reduce physical strain on paramedics, along with advanced air purification systems to help minimise infection risks.
The vehicles are also connected to a smart fleet management system that provides real-time monitoring of operational readiness, driving performance, and fuel efficiency, while automating maintenance scheduling to enhance reliability and service efficiency.
The SRCA noted that the fleet expansion is part of a broader modernisation initiative that goes beyond replacing aging vehicles.
By introducing a comprehensive system of operational technologies, the authority aims to accelerate response times and align emergency medical services with global best practices, directly supporting the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Programme under Saudi Vision 2030.
