DOHA, Qatar: Pakistan’s young volleyball sensations have powered their way into the FIVB U17 World Championship 2026 Round of 16, delivering a commanding 3-0 victory over Algeria in their Pool E encounter at Doha on Monday.
The Green Shirts produced a flawless performance, winning all three sets by identical scorelines of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-17, showcasing their dominance in attack, defence, and serving to seal a well-deserved spot in the knockout stage.

Pakistan dominate in all departments
Pakistan put on a clinical display, completely outclassing their Algerian opponents in every facet of the game. The statistics told the story of Pakistan’s superiority, with the Green Shirts recording 37 attack points compared to Algeria’s 27. Pakistan also led in blocks (11-8) and service points (4-2), while forcing 23 opponent errors against Algeria’s 15.
Fahad Ali leads from the front
Fahad Ali emerged as the star performer for Pakistan, leading the scoring effort with an impressive 20 points, including 16 attack points. Captain Muhammad Irfan also played a pivotal role, contributing five points with five attacks, comprising seven attack points and one block point.
The victory marked Pakistan’s second win in the tournament, having earlier defeated Chinese Taipei in their campaign opener with scores of 25-20, 25-10, 25-23.
Pakistan’s journey to the round of 16
Pakistan began their World Championship campaign in emphatic fashion, overcoming Chinese Taipei in straight sets. In that match, Fahad Ali top-scored with 13 points, while captain Irfan contributed 11 points with five attacks, three blocks, and three service points. Pakistan dominated the statistical battle against Chinese Taipei as well, recording 36 attack points to 29, leading in blocks 8-7, and service points 6-0, while forcing 18 opponent errors against Chinese Taipei’s 14.

The Green Shirts then faced a formidable Iran side in their subsequent pool match, suffering a 3-0 defeat. However, the young squad showed remarkable resilience and character, staging a spirited comeback to defeat Algeria in their final Preliminary Phase match and secure their place in the knockout rounds.

Egypt next in round of 16
