RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Wednesday strongly condemned the repeated Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain, adding that these attacks constitute a violation of state sovereignty and international law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, said that Saudi Arabia holds Iran responsible for the consequences of its continued aggression and demands an immediate cessation of these violations to preserve the security, stability, and safety of the region.

It reiterated the Kingdom’s full solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain in all measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty.

Earlier, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, strongly condemned Iran’s attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, calling them a blatant violation of the two countries’ sovereignty and a continued attempt by Tehran to destabilise regional peace efforts.

In a statement, Albudaiwi said the attacks posed a direct threat to the safety and security of citizens and residents, while also constituting a serious breach of international law and the UN Charter.

“The attacks confirm Iran’s continued approach aimed at undermining international and regional efforts to establish security and peace and resolve the crisis,” he said.

Qatar also called on all sides to continue engaging in dialogue and diplomacy, urging them to build on the memorandum of understanding reached between Iran and the United States on June 17 to strengthen regional and international security.

The condemnations came after Bahrain and Kuwait reported fresh Iranian aerial attacks following US retaliatory strikes on targets in Iran. Air raid sirens sounded in both Gulf states, while Bahraini authorities said air defenses intercepted and destroyed Iranian projectiles.

Tehran has repeatedly carried out strikes on civilian infrastructure in neighbouring countries following US and Israeli attacks on its territory, despite those countries not being parties to the conflict.
