ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday firmly rejected India’s criticism of its recent strikes against terrorist infrastructure along the Afghan border, describing New Delhi’s remarks as “preposterous” and “baseless” while defending the military action as legitimate, targeted and proportionate.
In a statement posted on X, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan’s actions were carried out against terrorist infrastructure in Afghanistan in accordance with its right to safeguard national security.

“Pakistan rejects the baseless statement by India on its legitimate, targeted and proportionate actions against terrorist infrastructure in Afghanistan,” the spokesperson said.
Andrabi criticised India for what he described as a longstanding record of interfering in the internal affairs of neighbouring countries and undermining their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He further said the statement had come from “a country that has historically interfered in and undermined the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbouring countries, in contravention of the UN Charter, and continues to suppress the right to self-determination of the Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in violation of the relevant UN resolutions.”
The Foreign Office spokesperson also held India responsible for supporting terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory against Pakistan, saying that such actions violate the relevant UN Security Council sanctions regime.
He added that India continued to play the role of a “regional spoiler” and said its accusations and inflammatory statements against Pakistan should not be given credence.
Reaffirming Islamabad’s position, Andrabi said Pakistan would continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of its citizens in accordance with international law.
The statement follows Pakistan’s intelligence-based military operation carried out on Sunday night along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. According to Pakistani authorities, the operation involved a ground assault followed by calibrated strikes against terrorist hideouts and safe havens inside Afghanistan, resulting in the killing of 25 terrorists.
The operation came after terrorists attacked the Pakistan Rangers Sindh headquarters in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar area, where three security personnel were martyred.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs subsequently condemned Pakistan’s cross-border action, describing it as a “blatant act of aggression” and claiming it posed a direct threat to regional peace and stability.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Taliban administration in Kabul to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil that it says are used to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
Pakistani officials maintain that these concerns have repeatedly been conveyed to the Afghan authorities but have remained unaddressed.
Earlier this year, on the night of February 26, Pakistan also launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq against terrorist hideouts following what it described as unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban from across the border.
