Pakistan Strike Twice After Electing to Bowl in Second Bangladesh Test

SYLHET: Pakistan national cricket team made a strong start after winning the toss and electing to bowl first against Bangladesh national cricket team in the second Test of the two-match series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

At the end of the opening 10 overs on day one, Bangladesh are 44-2, with experienced batter Mominul Haque unbeaten on 14 off 24 deliveries.

Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas led Pakistan’s early charge, claiming two wickets for 19 runs in 4.6 overs, while Sajid Khan remained wicketless after his opening spell.

Pakistan entered the match under pressure after suffering a 104-run defeat in the first Test, which gave Bangladesh a 1-0 lead in the series.

The visitors made three changes to their playing XI, with star batter Babar Azam returning after recovering from injury. He replaced Imam-ul-Haq in the side.

Pakistan also brought in Khurram Shahzad and Sajid Khan in place of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Noman Ali respectively.

Pakistan’s playing XI includes Azan Awais, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Abdullah Fazal, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Khurram Shahzad, Sajid Khan, Hasan Ali and Mohammad Abbas.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, retained a strong core featuring Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Historically, Pakistan have dominated the Test rivalry, winning 12 of the 16 matches played between the two sides, while Bangladesh have secured three victories and one match ended in a draw.
