LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam won the toss and elected to field first against Hyderabad Kingsmen in the grand finale of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11, on Sunday at jam-packed Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Players to watch out for

Hyderabad Kingsmen endured four straight defeats at the start of their debut season but staged a stunning turnaround to reach the playoffs as the fourth-ranked team on the final day of the league stage. They then won both Eliminators and now stand one victory away from a maiden title.

HK will rely on captain Marnus Labuschagne, whose decision to promote himself to the top order proved pivotal; Usman Khan, their leading scorer with a strike rate of 164; the ever-dangerous Glenn Maxwell; and seamers Hunain Shah and Mohammad Ali.

Peshawar Zalmi, meanwhile, have lost just one game in PSL 2026, and that defeat came after they had already qualified for the playoffs. Captain Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis are the tournament’s top two run-scorers, sitting 140 runs clear of the rest.

They are backed by Sufiyan Muqeem, the highest wicket-taker of PSL 2026; death-overs specialist Ali Raza; and the all-round skills of Iftikhar Ahmed.

Head-to-head

Sunday’s final marks only the second meeting between Zalmi and Kingsmen. The former champions lead the head-to-head record 1-0 after winning their first encounter narrowly by four wickets.

Form Guide

Both teams enter the summit clash with similar momentum, each having lost just one of their last five completed matches. Table-toppers Peshawar Zalmi stormed into the final by winning the Qualifier against Islamabad United by 70 runs. Hyderabad Kingsmen, who finished fourth in the league stage, defeated Multan Sultans and three-time champions in the two Eliminators to book their final berth.
