MOSCOW: Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart President Ebrahim Raisi on Thursday discussed the situation in Syria during a telephone conversation, the Kremlin said.
It said that it was the two leaders’ second chat in nine days. Iran and Russia both have backed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in a long-running civil war in the country.

Moscow-Tehran
The statement said that Moscow and Tehran also exchanged views over cooperation in the energy and transport sectors. However, the statement issued by the Kremlin made no reference to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
