ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revised his upcoming regional tour, with visits scheduled to begin in Saudi Arabia on April 16, followed by engagements in Qatar and Türkiye, where he is expected to arrive on April 17, according to official sources.
The updated schedule reflects a reordering of engagements aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic ties with key regional partners. The prime minister is expected to hold high-level meetings with leadership in all three countries, focusing on cooperation in trade, investment, energy and regional stability.
Saudi Arabia will be the first stop of the visit, where discussions are likely to centre on economic collaboration, investment opportunities and ongoing bilateral initiatives. The kingdom remains one of Pakistan’s closest allies and a major economic partner.
Energy cooperation
Following the Saudi visit, the prime minister will travel to Qatar, where talks are expected to focus on energy cooperation, particularly in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector, as well as expanding trade and investment ties.
The final leg of the visit will take place in Türkiye, where both countries share strong historical and strategic relations. Discussions there are expected to include defence cooperation, economic partnerships and coordination on regional and international issues.
Officials say the rescheduling aims to maximise the effectiveness of the visit by aligning engagements with evolving regional dynamics. The tour is also expected to reinforce Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and deepen cooperation with key partners in the Middle East and beyond.
