Iran Should Thoroughly Probe Cross-Border Terrorist Attack: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has called upon the Iranian authorities to ensure a thorough probe into the cross-border terrorist attack inside its territory and bring the perpetrators to task.

Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, at a weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, said terrorists had used Iranian soil to target a security forces convoy patrolling along the Pakistan-Iran border in the Panjgur district of Balochistan province.

FO seeks probe

Calling upon the Iranian government for a probe, she said Pakistan condemns terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations, the spokesperson added. She said Pakistan strongly commits that its territory will not be used for cross-border attacks in Iran, adding that “we expect the same from Iran.” She said “Pakistan and Iran are neighbours and our channel of communication is active.”

“We are sharing our concerns with the Iranian authorities regarding the incident.”

India targeting innocent Kashmiris in fake encounters: FO spokesperson

While sharing the details of recent Indian brutalities in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the FO spokesperson said that Indian forces were targeting innocent Kashmiris in fake encounters during a so-called cordon and search operations in the IIOJK.

The spokesperson said Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would be undertaking an official visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan on January, 25 to attend the 26th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Economic Cooperation Organization.

She added the foreign minister will address the gathering and hold bilateral moots with other dignitaries and participating ministers on the sidelines of the event.
