LAHORE: Islamabad United secured their first win of the Pakistan Super League season 11 with a commanding eight-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 184, United reached 185-2 in the 19th over, powered by an unbeaten 83 from Sameer Minhas and a fluent 68 by captain Shadab Khan.

United made a brisk start through openers Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas, who added 40 runs before Abrar Ahmed dismissed Conway for 18.

Abrar struck again soon after, removing Andries Gous for two to leave United at 61-2 in 6.5 overs.

Minhas and Shadab then stabilised the innings with a composed partnership, adding 50 runs to bring the chase back on track.

Both batters accelerated steadily, taking the total past 150 in the 16th over.

The pair eventually stitched together a decisive 100-run stand, effectively sealing the match.

Minhas remained unbeaten on 83 off 48 balls, hitting eight fours and three sixes, while Shadab struck five fours and four sixes in his 38-ball 68, registering his ninth PSL half-century.

Gladiators post competitive total

Earlier, Quetta Gladiators posted 183-5 after opting to bat, driven by strong contributions from their top and middle order.

Openers Shamyl Hussain and Saud Shakeel provided an aggressive start, putting on a 50-run stand before Salman Irshad dismissed Shamyl for 21.

Shakeel continued to score freely and added valuable runs with Khawaja Nafay before being dismissed by Shadab for 42 off 26 balls.

Wickets fell at regular intervals thereafter, with Imad Wasim removing Nafay for 18.

Shadab struck twice in quick succession, dismissing Ben McDermott and Bevon Jacobs in the same over to leave Quetta struggling at 93-5.

The innings was revived by Hassan Nawaz and Tom Curran, who added a crucial 50-run partnership.

Nawaz led the charge in the death overs, smashing 21 runs in the 16th over and reaching his fifth PSL half-century.

He remained unbeaten on 64 off 35 balls, including six fours and three sixes.

Curran supported with 29 off 22 deliveries as Quetta finished strongly.
