RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, has warned that recent Iranian attacks pose a serious and growing threat to regional security and stability.
Addressing the 43rd session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council via video conference, he stressed that such actions risk escalating conflict, undermining peace efforts, and endangering both civilian populations and critical infrastructure, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.
The remarks come amid increasing geopolitical strain, with regional powers expressing concern over the potential for wider instability and disruption to global security.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, who is also Honorary President of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, noted that the meeting was taking place in light of current regional circumstances, including Iranian attacks on several Arab and regional states.

He stressed that the Kingdom firmly rejects such actions, noting that they endanger civilian lives and critical infrastructure while undermining efforts to maintain peace.
He added that these acts of aggression cannot be justified under any circumstances and represent clear violations of international conventions, posing a broader risk to global peace and security.
The minister also drew attention to the growing complexity of global security challenges, highlighting a sharp rise in organised crime, illicit drug trafficking, extremism, terrorism, and cybercrime.
He noted that rapid geopolitical and technological changes have allowed transnational criminal networks to evolve, while the synthetic drug trade continues to expand.
At the same time, digital platforms are increasingly being exploited to spread extremist ideologies, facilitate human trafficking, and launder money—particularly in fragile and conflict-affected regions.
He further warned that cybercrime, digital fraud, and ransomware attacks have become widespread and increasingly sophisticated, driven in part by the misuse of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence.
These threats, he said, are no longer isolated issues but interconnected risks that require coordinated international responses.
Stressing the need for a comprehensive approach, Prince Abdulaziz stated that addressing modern security threats demands a multidimensional framework that integrates human capacity, technological advancement, intellectual development, and societal resilience.
He underscored that security today is closely linked to the knowledge economy, and that nations investing in research, innovation, and education are better positioned to develop proactive and sustainable security strategies.
He added that strengthening Arab cooperation, enhancing intellectual capabilities, and building resilient societies are essential steps toward achieving long-term stability in the region. Such efforts, he said, will help meet the aspirations of Arab nations for a more secure and prosperous future.
