A key focus of the talks was the evolving situation in West Asia. Senator Dar briefed Wang Yi on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at de-escalation and dialogue, including the recent meeting in Islamabad involving the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt.
During the discussions, Wang Yi acknowledged and commended Pakistan’s active role in facilitating dialogue and pursuing peaceful solutions in the region, highlighting Beijing’s support for Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts.
Both sides expressed concern over the wider socio-economic impact of regional instability, particularly on developing countries.
In this context, Pakistan and China jointly introduced a five-point initiative aimed at fostering peace and stability in the Gulf and the broader Middle East, although further details were not disclosed.
