ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations on Wednesday with his counterparts from Turkey and, stressing the urgent need for restraint and immediate de-escalation amid rising regional tensions.

During a conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Turkey amid recent attacks, a Foreign Office statement said.

During the discussion, the two leaders reviewed the rapidly evolving regional situation and expressed grave concern over ongoing hostilities, including a recent attempted attack targeting Turkiye.

Both leaders underscored the urgent need for de-escalation, restraint, and coordinated diplomatic efforts to prevent further instability. Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to standing by Turkiye and working closely to promote regional peace and stability.

Separately, the Deputy Prime Minister spoke with Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, to discuss unfolding developments in the region.

The two leaders voiced deep concern over escalating tensions and emphasised the importance of restraint, adherence to international law, and constructive engagement to safeguard regional security.

Reaffirming strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and Egypt, they agreed to maintain close coordination and continue consultations in support of diplomatic solutions.

The war between the United States, Israel, and Iran widened further on Wednesday, with Israeli strikes hitting towns in Lebanon and Iran, and security alerts spreading across Gulf states as missile, drone, and air strikes continued to ripple across the region.

The conflict, triggered by coordinated US-Israeli strikes on Iran late last week, has expanded beyond confrontation between Tehran and Israel, drawing in Lebanon, Iraq, and several Gulf states while disrupting air travel and forcing diplomatic evacuations.
