Recent Encounters Between the Two Sides
This will mark Pakistan’s second tour of Bangladesh since July 2025. During their previous visit, Pakistan played a three-match T20I series, which the hosts won 2-1.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, toured Pakistan in May and June last year for a three-match T20I series. On that occasion, the side led by Salman Ali Agha completed a clean sweep with a 3-0 result.
Context of the Tour
The upcoming ODI series against Pakistan will be Bangladesh’s first international assignment since the International Cricket Council (ICC) replaced them with Scotland for the ongoing T20 World Cup following their refusal to travel to India, citing security concerns.
The situation had earlier led to Pakistan announcing a boycott of their group match against India during the World Cup in solidarity with Bangladesh.
However, following intervention from the ICC, Pakistan agreed to play the India match after the governing body assured that Bangladesh would face no penalty for opting out of the tournament and would also be granted hosting rights for an ICC event prior to the 2031 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Future Engagements
Following the ODI series, Pakistan will return home and is scheduled to tour Bangladesh again in May after the conclusion of PSL 11.
The two sides will then meet for a two-match Test series, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 cycle.
The first Test is slated to take place in Dhaka from May 8 to 12, while the second Test will be held in Chattogram from May 16 to 20.
