RIYADH: Foreign ministers from five Arab nations held talks on Friday with Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in Ljubljana, focusing on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullatif Alzayani, and Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan Al Muraikhi held extensive talks with Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

During the talks, the ministers discussed steps to strengthen regional and international security and stability, with a particular focus on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

They stressed the importance of upholding the ceasefire agreement and fully implementing its provisions, as well as ensuring the delivery of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to the territory.

The discussions also covered efforts to support the success of the peace plan launched by US President Donald Trump and the need to advance toward a clear political horizon that includes the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution.

The ministers further addressed the situation in the occupied West Bank, emphasising the need to halt illegal unilateral Israeli measures and violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, which they said were heightening tensions and undermining de-escalation efforts.

They also commended Slovenia for its support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and for recognising the State of Palestine based on the two-state solution.

The talks also addressed developments in the region, ways to reduce tensions through negotiation and dialogue, and efforts to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
