Saudi Crown Prince, Turkish President Discuss Regional Developments

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, on Tuesday met with Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and discussed regional and international developments.

The two leaders held an official talks session, during which the Crown Prince welcomed the president to the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

An official reception ceremony was held in honour of the Turkish president.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his satisfaction over the visit and his meeting with the Crown Prince.

Both sides reviewed the prospects for relations between the two brotherly countries, explored avenues of cooperation, and discussed promising opportunities to further strengthen ties across various sectors.

They also exchanged views on regional and international developments, as well as ongoing efforts in this regard. The talks were attended by senior officials from both sides.

Saudi Arabia and Turkiye maintain important bilateral relations based on diplomatic engagement, economic cooperation, and regional coordination.

In recent years, both countries have worked to strengthen ties through high-level exchanges and dialogue on issues of mutual interest. The relationship continues to evolve, with a focus on trade, investment, and collaboration for regional stability.

The visit marks the first leg of the Turkish president’s regional tour, Anadolu news agency reported.

President Erdogan will subsequently travel to Cairo on Wednesday at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to co-chair the second meeting of the Turkiye–Egypt High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, according to Turkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.

During the Cairo visit, President Erdogan and President Sisi are expected to discuss bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international developments, with a particular focus on the situation in Palestine.
