ISLAMABAD/WASHINGTON: A US-based Sikh activist has accused India of sponsoring recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, alleging the violence was aimed at destabilising Pakistan and discouraging foreign investment.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, general counsel of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), alleged that the attack carried out by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) — designated a terrorist organisation by the United States — was being “manufactured and weaponised” by Indian intelligence agencies.
In his comments on YouTube, Pannun claimed the objective of such attacks was twofold: to destabilise Pakistan and to undermine US economic engagement in the country. He said the violence amounted to an attack on American strategic interests in the region, particularly under the administration of US President Donald Trump.
Pannun, who is a vocal supporter of the Khalistan movement, said Indian media coverage following the attack reflected what he described as a coordinated effort to portray Pakistan as unstable and unsafe for investment.
“These attacks are part of a broader proxy strategy,” Pannun said, expressing anger over civilian casualties in Balochistan.
Islamabad has repeatedly blamed New Delhi for backing insurgent groups operating in Balochistan.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, general counsel of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), said he was deeply angered by the killing of civilians in Balochistan, calling the bloodshed “deeply disturbing”.
Pannun further alleged that the Balochistan violence amounted to a proxy conflict under India’s current leadership, asserting that it was intended not only to undermine Pakistan but also to disrupt broader regional and international interests, including those of the United States.
He claimed that the ongoing unrest was aimed at weakening economic stability and deterring foreign engagement, particularly at a time of heightened geopolitical sensitivities.
