ISLAMABAD: Eight Muslim countries, in a joint statement, on Sunday condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza, which have killed and injured over a thousand Palestinians.
Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and the United Arab Emirates, in the statement, warned that the Israeli actions risk escalating tensions and undermining efforts aimed at bringing peace and stability in the region.
It added that Israel is violating the Gaza ceasefire at a time when regional and international parties are working collectively to advance the second phase of President Donald Trump’s peace plan and to implement the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
“The Ministers consider that these repeated violations constitute a direct threat to the political process and hinder ongoing efforts to create appropriate conditions for transitioning to a more stable phase in the Gaza Strip, both in terms of security and humanitarian conditions, and stress the necessity of full commitment to ensuring the success of the second phase of President Trump’s peace plan,” the statement said shared by Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

Israeli air strikes killed at least 37 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, including women and children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry and hospital officials, in the heaviest attacks in weeks despite a fragile ceasefire.
The strikes hit multiple locations in northern and southern Gaza, including a police station in Gaza City, residential apartments and a tent encampment housing displaced people in Khan Younis, medical sources, cited by Al Jazeera, said.
The Foreign Ministers of the Muslim nations urged all parties to fully uphold their responsibilities during this critical period and to exercise the utmost restraint, in order to preserve and sustain the ceasefire, refrain from any actions that may undermine the current process, and create favourable conditions to move forward toward early recovery and reconstruction, as well as advancing a just and lasting peace grounded in the Palestinian right to self-determination and statehood, in accordance with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and the Arab peace initiative.
It is pertinent to mention that since the ceasefire came into effect in early October, Israeli attacks have killed 524 Palestinians and injured 1,360 others, with 1,450 violations recorded, the Gaza media office said on Saturday.
In a related development, the office reported that Israeli forces have arrested 50 Palestinians since the agreement began, detaining them from areas far from the so-called “yellow line” as well as from within residential neighbourhoods.
On the humanitarian front, the media office said Israel has permitted the entry of 28,927 aid, commercial, and fuel trucks out of the 66,600 stipulated under the agreement, amounting to a compliance rate of 43 percent.
The agreement was intended to end a two-year Israeli campaign that resulted in the deaths of more than 71,600 Palestinians and left 171,300 others wounded.
