LAHORE, Pakistan: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the scheduled unveiling of the national team’s official jersey for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The decision, citing ‘unavoidable reasons’, comes amid growing doubts over Pakistan’s participation in the global tournament.
The official kit was set to be revealed following the toss for the second T20I against Australia at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
The last-minute cancellation has fuelled speculation, directly linking the postponement to the unresolved status of Pakistan’s involvement in the World Cup, which begins on February 7 across India and Sri Lanka.
High-stakes decision looms on Monday
The PCB is now poised to make a final and definitive decision on Pakistan’s tournament participation this coming Monday.
The announcement is expected after high-level internal consultations, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the team’s travel to the event.
Pakistan is drawn in Group A and is slated to open its campaign against the Netherlands in Colombo on February 7, with a high-voltage clash against arch-rivals India scheduled for February 15.
Nation awaits clarity
The PCB’s Monday decision carries immense weight. The board’s verdict will determine whether Pakistan will embark on a quest for a second T20 World Cup title or withdraw from the sport’s premier tournament, a move with significant sporting and diplomatic ramifications.
