DAVOS, Switzerland: Saudi and Spanish foreign ministers on Thursday held a meeting in Switzerland and discussed regional and international developments.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain José Manuel Albares on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos.

During the meeting, they reviewed relations and ways to enhance them, and discussed regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest.

Earlier, Prince Faisal bin Farhan signed the charter of the Board of Peace in the presence of President Donald Trump of the United States of America and leaders and representatives of a number of countries, welcoming the establishment of the board.

It reaffirms the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the Board of Peace’s mandate as a transitional mechanism to help end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2803, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

In May 2025, the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning and Spain’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Business signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at exchanging expertise and strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Under the MoU, the two sides agreed to cooperate in key areas, including coordination on economic modeling and policymaking, support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through joint partnerships and programmes, and the development of joint projects, as well as bilateral participation in economic events.

The agreement also covered the exchange of information and statistics in sectors such as industry, technology, and innovation, in line with sustainable development objectives and Saudi Vision 2030.
