LONDON: Holly Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, has married British Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty in a festive wedding ceremony at Bath Abbey in southwest England, according to British media reports.

Holly Ramsay, 25, was walked down the aisle by her father, who later said he was proud to give his daughter away and to welcome Peaty into the family as his son-in-law.

Peaty, 30, a multiple Olympic gold medallist, wore a classic tuxedo and was accompanied by his groomsmen, while the bride wore a lace gown concealed beneath an ivory hooded cloak as she arrived at the abbey.

Guests included several high-profile figures, among them former footballer David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, British media reported.

Television presenter Dan Walker, who competed alongside Peaty on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, attended the ceremony with his wife and shared images from the wedding on Instagram.

He described the day as “wonderful” and the reception as “unforgettable”.

Relationship and engagement

The couple publicly confirmed their relationship in 2023 and announced their engagement in September 2024.

In earlier comments, Holly said she was excited to marry her “best friend”, while Peaty described her as “gentle, caring and beautiful”, saying he felt “the luckiest man on earth”.

Gordon Ramsay wrote on Instagram that he was “truly so lucky” to walk his daughter down the aisle and said he “couldn’t be a prouder dad”.

Absence of groom’s family

Despite the celebrations, the wedding was marked by the absence of most of Peaty’s family.

British media reported that his parents did not attend the ceremony, with only his sister Bethany present from his side of the family.

Peaty’s mother, Caroline, told The Mail on Sunday that she was deeply hurt by not being invited and said the situation had caused significant emotional distress.

Other relatives also expressed sadness at being excluded, according to the newspaper.

Bethany Peaty served as one of the bridesmaids alongside Holly Ramsay’s sisters Megan and Tilly.

Reception and celebrations

Following the church service, the newlyweds travelled to a private reception at Kin House, a Georgian manor near Chippenham, around 27 kilometres from Bath.

Guests were served a formal dinner, including beef Wellington and seafood dishes, British media reported.

The couple left the abbey to the sound of church bells shortly after 1:30 pm.

A source quoted by British media said the wedding had been carefully planned and that the couple were eager to share the occasion with their guests.
