LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) opened the registration window for foreign players seeking to participate in the upcoming 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) on Friday. The expanded tournament is set to take place from March 26 to May 3, 2026.

Registration Now Open

In an official press release, the PCB confirmed that the registration process for international players has begun. “The foreign player registration window for the 11th edition of the PSL is now officially open,” stated the board, directing agents and independent players to complete their registration via a link on the PCB’s official website before the January 20, 2026 deadline to be included in the Player Pool.

A Historic Expansion to Eight Teams

This edition marks a significant milestone for the PSL, which was launched in 2016, as it expands from six to eight franchises for the first time. The two new teams will be auctioned on January 8, 2026, in Islamabad, with the event to be broadcast live.

The PCB highlighted that this expansion will substantially increase opportunities for global talent. “With the addition of two new franchises, the league has expanded to eight teams, creating significantly more roster spots and earning opportunities for international players,” the PCB said, welcoming cricketers worldwide to join what promises to be the biggest PSL season yet.

Strong Investor Interest

Reflecting the league’s growing stature, the PCB recently extended the bidding deadline for the two new franchises by one week, from December 15 to December 22. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the extension on his official social media account, citing strong interest from investors in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.

Looking Ahead

The expansion represents the first major structural change to the PSL in seven years and is expected to enhance the league’s competitive intensity and commercial appeal. With more teams and more roster slots, PSL 11 aims to attract a wider array of international stars and provide a larger platform for emerging talent.

Cricket fans and stakeholders can expect further updates following the franchise auction in January and the subsequent player draft.
