RIYADH: The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) and Nigeria have agreed to enhance cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism.
This came during a meeting between IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi and the military attaché of Nigeria in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.
The two sides discussed collaboration on combating terrorism and extremism, capacity building, and the exchange of expertise across military, intellectual, and media fields, aimed at supporting member states’ security and stability.
Al-Moghedi commended Nigeria’s active role within the coalition’s joint action framework, emphasising the alliance’s commitment to expanding partnerships and coordination with member states to achieve its strategic objectives in countering terrorism in all forms.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian military attaché expressed appreciation for the IMCTC’s initiatives and programmes designed to enhance operational readiness and integration among member states, underscoring the importance of ongoing cooperation to address current security challenges.
The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) established in 2015 is an intergovernmental counter-terrorist military alliance between 42-member states of the Muslim world. Saudi Arabia took the initiative to establish the IMCTC.
