RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Navy has achieved another significant milestone with the launch of its fourth Hangor-class submarine, GHAZI, at Shuangliu Base in Wuhan, China, a military statement said on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, all four submarines under construction in China are now undergoing rigorous sea trials and are in the final stages of being handed over to Pakistan.

The Government of Pakistan has signed an agreement with China for the acquisition of eight HANGOR-class submarines.

ISPR said under the agreement, four submarines will be constructed in China, while the remaining four will be built in Pakistan at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Limited (KS&EW) under a Transfer of Technology (ToT) arrangement.

The HANGOR-class submarines will be equipped with advanced weapons and sensor systems, enabling them to engage targets at standoff ranges. These submarines are expected to play a key role in strengthening maritime security and maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The launching ceremony was attended by senior officials from both countries, further demonstrating the deepening bilateral cooperation.
