NEW YORK: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held from 26 March to 3 May next year.

Naqvi made the announcement during a panel discussion at a PSL roadshow in New York, organised to attract international investors ahead of the league’s planned expansion.

“A lot of investors here asked us about the timeline of the PSL,” Naqvi told the audience.

“I can tell you one thing: PSL 11, by the will of Almighty Allah, will start on March 26, and we are planning to hold the final on May 3.”

The panel included current Pakistan internationals Shan Masood, Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Saud Shakeel, Faheem Ashraf and Abrar Ahmed, alongside former captains Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja.

Auction date for new PSL teams revised

Naqvi also announced a revised date for the auction of two new PSL franchises, confirming that it will now take place on 8 January.

The auction had originally been scheduled for 6 January but was postponed after the PCB extended the bid submission deadline by one week.

“Witnessing growing interest from Europe, the USA, the Middle East and beyond in acquiring new HBL PSL teams, we have decided to extend the bid submission deadline by one week to 22 December 2025,” Naqvi said in a statement shared during the event.

The PCB has been holding international roadshows to court investors, following what it described as “unprecedented interest” during a similar event at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London earlier this month.

League expansion to eight teams

The PSL, which began in 2016 with five franchises and expanded to six in 2018, will add two new teams from its 11th edition.

The expansion will increase the number of franchises to eight, marking the league’s first major structural change in seven years.

Reconstruction of Karachi Stadium

During the roadshow, Naqvi also outlined the PCB’s plans for stadium development across Pakistan.

He said Karachi’s National Bank Stadium would be demolished and rebuilt from scratch after the conclusion of PSL 11.

“Half of the venue has already been constructed,” Naqvi said.

“As soon as PSL 11 ends, we will demolish it, and it will be better than the Lahore stadium.”

He added that work had already begun on a new stadium in Muzaffarabad, which the PCB aims to complete before the PSL, or later within the year.

State-of-the-art cricket academy

Naqvi further announced plans to build a state-of-the-art cricket academy, describing it as a transformative project for Pakistan cricket.

“The biggest target is the academy,” he said.

“You will see it after three to four months. It will totally change things. The best facilities in the world will be available there.”

The PCB chairman said investment raised through PSL expansion would play a key role in funding infrastructure and development projects.
