DERA BUGTI: A senior commander of Pakistan’s banned Baloch Republican Army (BRA), Wadera Noor Ali Chakarani, surrendered to authorities in Sui on Saturday along with more than 100 militants, officials confirmed.
The group laid down their weapons at Pakistan House, Sui, where they formally renounced militancy in the presence of local leader Mir Aftab Bugti, who administered an oath pledging loyalty to Pakistan.
Authorities described the surrender as a significant step toward restoring stability in Dera Bugti, an area long affected by insurgency, extortion and repeated security incidents.
Officials said the decision by over a hundred “misguided individuals” to return to the state’s fold reflects renewed trust in national institutions and a desire among former militants to rejoin mainstream society.
They added that this development could open the door to improved peace and development in the region.
At the same time, officials made fresh appeals to militants still hiding in the mountains, urging them to abandon violence and return home.

“Dera Bugti has endured years of unrest and instability,” one local official said. “It is time to restore normal life, embrace peace and work collectively for a secure and prosperous future.”
Authorities reiterated that sustained peace and development can only be achieved when all communities stand together and reject violence.
