KARACHI: Former England cricketer Moeen Ali has expressed his excitement about returning to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in its “new era,” following the league’s expansion and evolution.

The 38-year-old, who has previously played in the PSL for Multan Sultans, praised the high level of competition, world-class talent, and thrilling contests that the league has consistently provided since its inception in 2016.

Moeen, who was a part of the victorious Multan Sultans squad in the 2020 and 2021 editions, took to social media to share his anticipation for the upcoming PSL season, which will feature eight teams, offering even more exciting cricket action for fans.

“I’m really excited to be joining HBL PSL in its New Era. The league has earned a reputation for top-level T20 cricket, with high-quality competition and world-class talent across every team,” Moeen wrote on Instagram.

Since its founding, the PSL has garnered widespread acclaim for its competitive edge and the talent it attracts, and Moeen acknowledged the quality of the league, highlighting it as one of the premier T20 competitions globally.

Reflecting on his past experiences playing in Pakistan, Moeen described the country’s passionate and enthusiastic crowd, which he believes plays a major role in motivating players to perform at their best.

“Playing in Pakistan is always incredible; the quality of cricket is outstanding, and the passion and intensity from the crowd push you to bring your best,” Moeen said.

The all-rounder, who has represented England in 68 Tests, 138 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 92 T20Is, was also part of the England squad during their historic tour to Pakistan in 2022.

Moeen has visited Pakistan several times, further cementing his connection to the country and its cricketing culture.

“I’m looking forward to being part of it all and creating some great memories along the way. Ready for another special experience, Insha’Allah!” he added, eager for his return to the PSL.
