ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s leadership on Monday lauded the exceptional bravery of Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel after they foiled a major terrorist assault on the force’s headquarters in Peshawar, killing all attackers and preventing what officials said could have been a “far greater tragedy”.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari issued separate statements condemning the attack, paying tribute to the martyred FC men, and reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to crush terrorism.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack and praised FC personnel for their swift, courageous response.
“The timely and brave action of FC troops saved Pakistan from a major tragedy,” he said, adding that the attackers’ objectives had been decisively defeated.
Sharif directed authorities to ensure the injured received the best possible medical treatment and prayed for their speedy recovery.
He instructed law enforcement agencies to identify and bring all those responsible to justice.
“We will thwart every attempt to undermine Pakistan’s security and sovereignty,” the prime minister said.
President Asif Ali Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the assault as a cowardly act carried out by militants backed by “external sponsors”.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred FC personnel and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
Zardari said eliminating foreign-backed extremist networks remains a top national priority.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the FC personnel, calling their response “heroic” and crediting them with decisively foiling what he described as a Fitna al-Khawarij attack — a term used by the state for extremist groups linked to the TTP.
He paid tribute to the three FC men who embraced martyrdom, offered condolences to their families, and instructed that the injured receive the best medical care.
