DUBAI: In a dramatic finish to the final Super Four clash of the Asia Cup 2025, India defeated Sri Lanka in a nerve-wracking Super Over after both teams ended their innings tied at 202 runs apiece at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Chasing a formidable target of 203, Sri Lanka matched India blow for blow, thanks largely to a sensational 107 off 58 balls by Pathum Nissanka and a fiery 58 from Kusal Perera. Despite losing wickets at crucial moments, Sri Lanka clawed back into the game and leveled the scores on the last ball of their innings.

But when it came to the Super Over, Arshdeep Singh emerged as India’s hero, striking twice and conceding just 2 runs, removing Perera and Shanaka, effectively crippling Sri Lanka’s chances.

India then sent out captain Suryakumar Yadav, who calmly dispatched the first ball for three runs, sealing the win with four balls to spare.

India’s Innings Recap:

Earlier, Abhishek Sharma lit up the Dubai sky with a blistering 61 off 31 balls. Tilak Varma held the middle order together with an unbeaten 49 off 34, supported by Sanju Samson’s rapid 39. India posted a strong 202/5, despite regular wickets and a few quiet overs in the middle.

Sri Lanka’s Chase:

Nissanka’s hundred kept the chase alive, but lack of finishing firepower in the final overs proved costly. Arshdeep Singh (1/46 in regulation play) redeemed himself in the Super Over with two vital wickets.

Super Over:

Sri Lanka: 2/2 (Perera & Shanaka dismissed by Arshdeep)

India: 3/0 in 1 ball (Suryakumar finishes it off)

With this victory India remained the only unbeaten team who will face Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday, while Sri Lanka exit the Super Four stage with heartbreak but their heads held high.
