KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy on Friday said that one of its electricity generation and water desalination plants was struck in the latest Iranian attack, causing a fire and damage to the facility.
In a statement, the ministry said firefighting teams had successfully contained the blaze, while technical crews are continuing repair work and restoring the affected units to operation. Officials added that they are closely monitoring the stability of the national electricity grid.

Meanwhile, the conflict has continued to intensify, with the United States and Iran broadening their military targets as the war entered its sixth consecutive day, raising concerns over a further escalation in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran claims attacks on several locations in Kuwait, Qatar
Earlier, Iran claimed it had destroyed High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launchers and missiles during attacks on multiple locations in Kuwait, where Tehran alleges US forces are stationed.
Iran also said its forces had targeted the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar as part of what it described as the 15th wave of military operations.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that the strikes destroyed a long-range radar system and several US strategic aerial refuelling aircraft, according to Iran’s state-run IRIB news agency.
“The American enemy and the hosts of its bases in the region should know that crossing red lines and attacking people and civilian infrastructure will have a very severe and miserable price. If the enemy continues this trend, more crushing responses are on the way; responses that will remain in the history of battles,” it has said.
Iran asks citizens to cut electricity use after US strikes
Iran’s Ministry of Energy has also urged citizens to reduce electricity consumption after the national power grid came under pressure following US strikes on energy infrastructure in the country’s south.
In a statement, the ministry called on residents to switch off air conditioners during peak hours to help maintain a stable electricity supply in the southern provinces, which it said are facing extreme heat as well as attacks on electricity infrastructure.
