LONDON: Pop superstar Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce may have announced their engagement in a public Instagram post, but sources close to the couple say their wedding will be a strictly private affair.
According to People magazine, the pair—both 35—want to keep their ceremony intimate, with only close friends expected to attend.
“It will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle,” one insider said, adding that privacy remains their top priority.
The couple revealed their engagement on 26 August through an Instagram post featuring photos from Kelce’s proposal, with the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end proposed at his $6 million mansion, presenting Swift with an old mine brilliant cut diamond ring.
Kelce’s father, Ed, later said that the couple had already been secretly engaged for two weeks before making the announcement public.
Another source told People that Swift has been happily “showing off” her diamond ring, while describing the singer as “incredibly happy.”
Despite the excitement, detailed planning for the wedding has yet to begin.
On his New Heights podcast, Kelce admitted he had not even thought about a bachelor party, joking that when planning begins “it’s gonna go crazy.”
Speculation over the venue has already intensified. Page Six reported that the couple are considering hosting the ceremony at Swift’s Rhode Island mansion in the summer of 2026.
Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee even weighed in, saying on X that his state “has some of the best wedding venues in the world.”
Swift purchased her Watch Hill property in 2013 for $17.75 million. Known locally as “Holiday House”, the residence has long been a retreat for the singer and the site of her famous Fourth of July parties attended by stars including Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, and Blake Lively.
Planning applications show Swift has recently carried out renovations, including adding a new bedroom and enlarging an existing suite.
While the couple have not confirmed their plans, reports suggest Swift is eager to marry before the end of 2026 as she hopes to start a family soon.
However, sources, cited by media outlets, said that the couple remain focused on keeping the celebration modest and away from the glare of public attention.
