LONDON: American pop star Taylor Swift and National Football League (NFL) star Travis Kelce on Tuesday announced their engagement, two years after their relationship.
The couple shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday with a series of photos capturing the moment Kelce proposed in a rose garden.
One image showed Swift wearing a diamond engagement ring, while the caption read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Swift and Kelce were first linked in October 2023, when they made their initial public outing together.
Since then, their relationship has become one of the most high-profile celebrity romances, attracting the attention of both Swift’s global fan base and American football followers.

The engagement announcement comes shortly after Swift appeared on the New Heights podcast, hosted by Kelce and his brother Jason, to reveal her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl.
In a recent interview, Kelce reflected on how the couple met and grew close.
“Nothing I’ve ever done has been a controlled, organised process. When I say it was so organic, we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with,” he said.
He added: “We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It kind of just took off.”
Fashion and entertainment outlets quickly picked up on Swift’s engagement ring, which Page Six reported was designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine, a jeweller known for vintage-inspired pieces with ethically sourced gemstones.
A close-up image revealed the ring features a North-South setting on a gold band. Details on the carat weight and valuation have not yet been confirmed.
Swift, 35, and Kelce, 35, have been prominent supporters of each other’s careers.
The singer-songwriter has been seen at Kansas City Chiefs games, including the 2024 Super Bowl, while Kelce has travelled internationally to attend Swift’s Eras Tour performances.
Their relationship reportedly began after Kelce joked about missing an opportunity to meet Swift during her Kansas City concert in 2023.
What started as playful banter soon developed into a widely publicised romance.
With Tuesday’s announcement, Swift appears to have found her “shiny thing”—a nod to her 2019 Lover track Paper Rings.
The couple have not yet disclosed details about their wedding plans.
