Pakistan Cricketers Rise in ICC T20I Rankings After West Indies Series Win

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s cricketers have made notable gains in the latest ICC T20I rankings after their impressive performance in the recent series against the West Indies.

Several young players surged up the batting and bowling charts, while some senior names saw a drop due to limited appearances.

According to the latest ICC T20I ranking, middle-order batter Hassan Nawaz jumped 24 places and is now in 30th position, thanks to his impressive score of 79 runs across the three matches. He now has 569 rating points.

Another star of the series, top-order batter Saim Ayub, scored a total of 130 runs, including two half-centuries. He climbed 25 places to reach 37th position with 559 points.

Sahibzada Farhan, another opener, also had a great series with 91 runs. He shot up an amazing 34 spots to claim 63rd position with 484 points.

Captain Salman Ali Agha and experienced player Fakhar Zaman also moved up in the rankings. Salman is now in 76th place, up by 15 spots, while Fakhar is in 78th, moving up three places.

On the other hand, some seasoned players had a tough time. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who have not played T20Is since 2024, dropped in the rankings. Babar is now 17th and Rizwan is 19th, both falling three spots.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris faced difficulties during the Caribbean tour and fell 21 places to 86th position with 413 points.

In the T20I batting race, India’s Abhishek Sharma remains number one, followed by Australia’s Travis Head, and India’s Tilak Varma in second and third place.

In the bowling category, there are no Pakistani players in the top 20. Fast bowler Haris Rauf stayed steady at 26th position with 575 points, while young pacer Abbas Afridi dropped three spots to 27th.

Left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem had a fantastic rise, jumping 69 places to reach 34th with 542 points. Shaheen Afridi dropped to 36th, while Mohammad Nawaz climbed 51 spots to find himself at 56th.

Abrar Ahmed fell nine places to 60th, and T20I vice-captain Shadab Khan slipped five spots to 72nd.

In bowling, New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy continues to top the charts, followed by England’s Adil Rashid, with West Indies’ Akeal Hosein now in third place.

In the all-rounders category, Shadab Khan dropped to 19th. Rising star Saim Ayub made waves by climbing 70 places to 24th with 119 points! Mohammad Nawaz also moved up 13 places to 36th, while Abbas Afridi and Iftikhar Ahmed dropped positions.

India’s Hardik Pandya remains the top all-rounder, followed by Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi in second and third.
