TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to visit Pakistan on Saturday, August 2, for a two-day official visit, a senior Iranian official said on Wednesday.
Mehdi Sanaei, political adviser to President Pezeshkian, on his X account, said that President Pezeshkian is visiting Pakistan at the official invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Pezeshkian will be the second Iranian president to visit Pakistan within the span of two years. The visit was originally scheduled for the last week of July.
In April 2024, Ebrahim Raisi made a three-day official visit to Pakistan, just one month before his death in a helicopter crash. During his trip, he also visited the cities of Lahore and Karachi.
Mehdi Sanaei, in his post, further said official meetings and discussions with “cultural and commercial elites” were on the agenda.
“The relations between the two countries encompass political, economic, religious, and cultural dimensions, and the goals of the trip include developing provincial and border cooperation and increasing trade exchanges from the current $3 billion,” he said.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has also said that President Masoud Pezeshkian will soon undertake an official visit to Islamabad.
In an interview with Al Arabiya during his trip to New York, Dar confirmed that Pezeshkian is expected to visit Pakistan, expressing hope that the visit will take place in early August.
Dar emphasised that Pakistan supports diplomacy and a prudent approach in the region, welcoming all efforts aimed at de-escalation and dialogue with Iran.
He also noted his ongoing communication with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, stressing that as a neighbouring country, Pakistan cannot remain silent on recent developments, including the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Condemning the Israeli aggression and the US strike on Iran’s nuclear sites, Dar stated that Pakistan cannot ignore acts of injustice, even when committed by a friendly nation.
On May 27, Prime Minister Shehbaz visited Iran as part of his regional tour of friendly countries to express gratitude for their support during the conflict with India.
During his visit, he met with Iranian leaders, including President Pezeshkian, to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance regional cooperation.
