LOS ANGELES: American singer, songwriter, and actress Miley Cyrus is content in her relationship with musician Maxx Morando and has no interest in pursuing marriage or starting a family anytime soon, according to a report by Star Magazine.
The 32-year-old singer, known for her fiercely independent approach to life and love, is said to be exactly where she wants to be.
“Miley is not at a crossroads in her relationship with Maxx,” a source close to the couple told Star Magazine.
“She’s exactly where she wants to be and is not pegging a bunch of ridiculous expectations on this relationship.”
Cyrus and Morando began dating in 2021, and according to the insider, the relationship has grown stronger over time.
“Maxx understands the rhythm Miley needs in a relationship. This relationship is already where she wants it to be, and she isn’t pushing for marriage or family,” the source added.
“She likes things the way they are.”
The source also pointed out that following her 2020 divorce from Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, Cyrus has focused on self-reliance and personal peace.
“She learned an important lesson about relying on herself, not her partner,” the insider said as cited by Star Magazine.
Speaking on the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast in June 2025, which she co-hosted with her sister Brandi and mother Tish Cyrus, Miley discussed her current relationship dynamics.
Referring to Morando, she joked, “I’m so excited for him to turn 27 ‘cause that was such a great year for me. I’m just hoping that, as long as he follows in my footsteps, everything is going to be great. That’s right when I started turning my life around.”
In another interview with Harper’s Bazaar published in November 2024, the Flowers hitmaker offered further insight into her bond with Morando. “He’s very similar to me. We just don’t take life too seriously,” she said.
Cyrus also commented on the generational gap between the two. “He looks at life really differently than I do. He grew up with a laptop,” she explained.
“I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and sisters.”
Laughing about Morando’s modern approach to life, she added, “Honestly, he’s raised our dog off Reddit. I’m like, ‘Are you sure we’re supposed to be doing this?’ And he’s like, ‘On Reddit it says blah, blah, blah.’”
Professionally, the couple have also found synergy. Morando contributed to Cyrus’s latest album Something Beautiful, released in May 2025.
“I’ve always worked with the people that I love,” she said. “Maxx just inspires me so much.”
Despite speculation about future plans, the singer is focused on maintaining her current lifestyle, free from traditional domestic pressures.
“Kids and domestic life are less appealing to Miley than the peace of mind that she’s fought to achieve during the years since the pandemic,” the source told Star.
