RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel.
The ministry, in a statement on Tuesday, said the Kingdom values the efforts exerted to de-escalate tensions.
“The Kingdom looks forward to all parties committing to de-escalation in the coming period, refraining from the use or threat to use force, and hopes that this agreement will contribute to restoring security and stability in the region and averting the dangers of continued escalation,” it said.

The ministry reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s firm position in support of dialogue and diplomatic means as the preferred path to resolving regional disputes and conflicts, based on the principles of respecting state sovereignty and promoting security, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.
Saudi Crown Prince speaks with Amir of Qatar
Earlier, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz , spoke by telephone with Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
At the beginning of the call, the Crown Prince affirmed the Kingdom’s full support for Qatar and condemned the blatant aggression launched by Iran against the country, stressing that it cannot be justified, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Crown Prince also affirmed that the Kingdom placed all its capabilities in support of its Qatari brothers and the measures they are taking to safeguard their security and preserve their sovereignty.
