ISLAMABAD: Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while very hot in plain areas, Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday.
However, partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorms is likely at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan during evening/night.
Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted a severe heatwave in most parts of the country over the next four to five days.
Daytime temperatures
According to the Met Office, daytime temperatures are likely to remain 5 to 7°C above normal in the upper half of the country, while 4 to 6°C above normal in the southern half from June 7th to 12th.
The Met Office stated that continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere is also prevailing over the country and is likely to persist during the upcoming days.
The Meteorological Department said that Lahore is experiencing a rise in temperatures due to dry weather conditions. The mercury is expected to peak at 44°C, with a minimum temperature of 29°C on Sunday, local media reported.
Officials have issued heatwave advisory for the next two days, warning that most areas of Punjab will continue to face severe heat and dry conditions, posing health risks for residents.
Stay hydrated
They urged citizens to take precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary sun exposure to protect themselves from the extreme weather.
