Saudi Crown Prince, Pakistan PM Discuss Ways to Boost Cooperation

The two leaders reviewed regional developments and the efforts being made to enhance security and stability in the region

MINA: The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz received Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Mina on Friday and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

The two leaders exchanged Eid Al-Adha greetings and discussed the longstanding ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

They also reviewed regional developments and the efforts being made to enhance security and stability in the region.

The reception was attended by several senior Saudi officials, including Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, Minister of Interior, Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Defence, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki.

Pakistan’s Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal, Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq were also present during the meeting.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the meeting expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s proactive role during recent tensions between Pakistan and India, and its steadfast commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.

He underscored Pakistan’s policy of responsible restraint in the face of Indian aggression, emphasising that sustainable peace in South Asia is achievable only through dialogue.

The two leaders also held detailed discussions on the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

They stressed the imperative for the international community to fulfill its moral and legal obligations and reiterated their unwavering support for a just and durable resolution to the Palestinian question, grounded in the Arab Peace Initiative and the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Both leaders agreed to further elevate this strategic partnership in accordance with the shared vision of the leadership and the aspirations of the brotherly people of the two countries.

Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and a high-level delegation performed Umrah during their official visit to Saudi Arabia.

The visit is being undertaken on the special invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Saudi Arabia presents a key export opportunity for Pakistani businesses, given its strong consumer demand and ambitious Vision 2030 economic reforms that emphasize diversification and foreign investments.

Pakistan has a 2.7 million-strong diaspora in Saudi Arabia, which accounts for the highest remittance inflow, a crucial lifeline for the country’s economy.
