MAKKAH: The Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has launched a campaign to distribute gifts to pilgrims performing Hajj.

The gifts include Qurans translated into global languages and published by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran, as well as instructional, awareness, and educational booklets on Islamic creed, Hajj and Umrah rituals, intellectual security, the moderation of Islam, and important aspects of a Muslim’s life, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

The gifts also include prayer rugs, umbrellas and digital programmes featuring scholarly books.

These items are being distributed at train stations as part of the “Hajj Gifts” programme during the Hajj season.

President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais stressed that the presidency is diversifying its enrichment methods to serve its moderate message, deliver it globally, and elevate the central role of service to pilgrims, extending far beyond the immediate benefit to pilgrims and visitors through its programs and services.

Interactive screens installed in Grand Mosque

The women’s affairs agency of the Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has also launched smart interactive screens inside women’s prayer areas at the Grand Mosque, aimed at enhancing cognitive awareness and providing easy access to religious information in a modern and innovative manner.

These smart screens allow female visitors to the Grand Mosque to browse Islamic books, access fatwas, and download religious content in 19 international languages, catering to the diverse nationalities of pilgrims and worshippers, SPA reported.

This year, the annual pilgrimage is expected to take place in June. While the exact number of pilgrims for Hajj 2025 is yet to be confirmed, early projections indicate it could be a record-breaking year, with more than 2.5 million pilgrims expected to participate.
