ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has won on multiple fronts against Indian aggression, and has emerged as the more responsible nuclear country, according to Asia Times.
It reported that the recent India-Pakistan military tension has reshaped domestic political dynamics on both sides of the border. While the guns have fallen silent following a hastily brokered ceasefire between the two countries.
The most important and surprising outcome has been the unexpected reputational boon for Pakistan, which has managed to consolidate its position amid the crisis.
“India’s diplomatic isolation”
India emerges diplomatically isolated and strategically diminished, having failed to advance regional hegemony, Asia Times reported. It reported that India attacked Pakistan, without providing conclusive evidence regarding Pahalgam attack.
Modi government’s reaction, charged with virulent rhetoric and jingoistic posturing and this approach is now viewed as too ham-fisted and lacking diplomatic finesse, according to Asia Times.
Pakistan emerges more responsible actor
Pakistan, on the other hand, seized the diplomatic moment. Islamabad positioned itself as the more responsible actor in the military exchanges between the nuclear-armed powers.
Pakistan’s civil and military leadership emphasised restraint, national unity and the need for peace, while many observers termed India’s actions as needlessly aggressive. Diplomatically, India suddenly found itself without robust backing. The United States, the European Union and key Gulf allies issued statements urging de-escalation from both sides while China calls for stability.
“Loss for India”
India’s attempt to internationalise its grievances has failed to gain expected traction. Instead of Pakistan, it was India that appeared diplomatically isolated. The recent confrontation marked a significant strategic loss for India.
The entire nation of Pakistan stands side by side with the country’s armed forces during the recent crisis, according to Asia Times. Pakistan’s military had not only prevented all-out war, it had solemnly protected national sovereignty and forced a regional rival into backing down — all without ceding an inch of ground, it reported. Pakistan understood that better and played it to their advantage, according to Asia Times.
Radio Pakistan reported that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has paid rich tribute to the bravery and proficiency of PAF falcons for inflicting a crushing defeat on the enemy during the Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
Addressing the PAF pilots during his visit to Kamra Airbase on Thursday, he said the PAF falcons blew away the enemy’s pride into dust in a matter of just few hours.
He said this success has also strengthened the belief of our friends and supporters in us. The premier said this victory has not only changed the world’s perception about us but also the regional equation.
