ISLAMABAD: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to kick off next month in Pakistan and Dubai.

During a press conference held at Wankhede Stadium, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar revealed the team lineup for the Champions Trophy, along with the three-match ODI series against England that will precede it.

After a two-hour wait due to a “last-minute meeting,” it was confirmed that star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been included in the Champions Trophy squad, despite concerns over his fitness following a back injury sustained in Australia.

While Agarkar and Rohit could not provide additional details on Bumrah’s condition, Harshit Rana has been named as his replacement for the ODI series against England.

In an unexpected twist, pacer Mohammed Siraj has been omitted from the squad, with Arshdeep Singh taking his place. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami makes a comeback after being sidelined from international cricket since the 2023 World Cup due to injury.

The squad features a total of four spinners: one specialist Kuldeep Yadav and three all-rounders Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja. Notably, opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is yet to make his ODI debut, has also been included.

Despite his impressive form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Vidarbha batter Karun Nair has not been selected for the Champions Trophy, as anticipated. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who was considered a potential candidate for the tournament, has also been left out.
