ISLAMABAD/SAN FRANSISCO: A day after Elon Musk sought users’ opinions on whether he should continue as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Twitter, a majority of subscribers have asked the billionaire to quit as the head of the microblogging company.

Elon Musk ousted as CEO

The users voted on Monday to overthrow Musk as CEO of Twitter in a highly unscientific poll he conducted and promised to honour.

The vote came after Musk took charge of the social media giant, which has been in the news since then.

According to the poll results, a total of 57.5% or more than 17 million users voted for Musk to step down. Musk, who also owns carmaker Tesla and rocket firm SpaceX, has not yet reacted to the poll results, according to AFP.

Prior to the poll, Musk said that the question was not finding a CEO and the question was finding a CEO who could keep Twitter alive.

In response to a tweet, Musk said that no one wanted a job who could actually keep Twitter alive and there was no successor.

Since October 27, Musk owns Twitter and has repeatedly courted controversy as CEO after he sacked half of its staff, re-admitting far-right figures to the platform, suspending accounts of journalists and attempting to charge for previously free services.
